9th Langmatz Broadband-Symposium + Open House, 26 and 27 February 2020

28 February 2020
The Broadband Symposium + Open House was held for the 9th time in Garmisch-Partenkirchen – once again with overwhelmingly positive feedback. We again set a visitor record with 540 participants from Germany and abroad and 31 participating partner companies…

This year, we were once more able to attract top-class speakers. In a moving presentation on the first day, we experienced a journey into our future, which will be characterised by exponential growth in terms of  digitalisation, networking and automation. These technological developments offer immense opportunities for every industry and will change our lives more than the last 250 years have done. In another presentation, we learned which digital and sustainable technologies are already possible today. An intensive panel discussion delved into the challenges dominating the current network expansion. It was agreed that less bureaucratic obstacles would accelerate the expansion and that clearly defined quality standards and uniform training of specialists are essential for building sustainable networks.

This year, we modified our concept for the technical presentations to provide even more in-depth information on individual topics and offered an additional eight presentations on special optical fibre topics after the lunch break. An innovation that garnered very positive feedback.

On the second day, our partner companies presented their innovations for the construction and operation of optical fibre networks in the Olympic ski stadium. Langmatz GmbH presented its latest innovations as well, including its new medium sized outdoor fibre distribution cabinet , a new building cable and pipe entry system suited for optical fibre as well as a new fibre subscriber termination and junction box, which allow modular and cost-efficient expansion of networks. In the proven workshop program, participants could acquire the latest information on optical fibre assembly, optical fibre enclosures and their application, as well as the routing of protective conduits and pipe bundles. Guided tours of the Langmatz plant in Oberau gave an in-depth insight into the way that optical fibre products are made.

We would like to thank all visitors and the exhibiting partner companies for their participation and look forward to seeing you again in 2021!

Yours sincerely,

Stephan Wulf
