The success story of the Langmatz Broadband-Symposium and Open House continues. Like last year, more than 400 participants from Germany and other European companies met in Garmisch-Partenkirchen to discuss exciting topics regarding the development of broadband networks and their commercialisation…
Prominent speakers reported on the challenges of “Gigabit on air” and the funding programmes for setting up Wi-fi enabled hotspots, not to mention their effects on the architecture of the respective access networks. Concepts for designing Points of Presence (PoP) buildings and accommodating fibre optic components in underground distribution systems were discussed, as was the expansion strategy proposed by a large municipal utility company for successfully digitalising networks.
One further focal point was security in gigabit networks, which included fascinating speeches and even a live hack.
On the second day, we held an Open House in our Oberau production plant with 24 partner companies from the industry. Here, visitors learned about all news regarding the planning, set-up and operation of fibre optic networks. Langmatz GmbH presented its latest innovations as well. For example, the new outdoor optical distribution frames and the new central office optical distribution frame, as well as the compact optical distribution and termination box, which allow modular and cost-efficient network expansions. The products can be used for expanding systems, while covering incurred costs, and also fulfil the stipulations of the Federal Material Concept for use in development areas.
In various workshops, participants were given current information on the topics of optical fibre assembly, optical fibre enclosures and their application, not to mention routing protective conduits and pipe bundles. Guided tours of the Langmatz plant in Oberau gave an in-depth insight into the way that optical fibre products are made.
We would like to thank all visitors and the exhibiting partner companies for their participation in and organisation of these fascinating day events!
