Langmatz GmbH is again being awarded for having an exemplary occupational safety management system in its company with the “Safe with System” (“Systematic Safety”) quality seal presented by the RCI employers’ liability insurance association. At the same time, Langmatz’ compliance with the requirements of the new international ISO 45001 standard was confirmed and the company’s certified health management system was again approved…
Putting safety and occupational health measures into practice during the working day is a very high priority for Langmatz. But increasingly it’s also about ergonomics at the workplace rather than just safety. Semi-automated processes, such as handling robots on injection moulding machines, welding robots in metal processing and bending machines, minimise employees’ physical work. Modern equipped workplaces in assembly or height-adjustable office desks improve ergonomics at the workplace.
The main occupational safety tasks for managers include the organisation of recurring safety training courses and risk assessments, preparation and verification of operating instructions, compliance with legislation and employers’ liability insurance association regulations, and contact with employees at the workplace.
The increased number of employees requires intense in situ support at the three sites. Workplaces and work processes are observed and analysed, possible measures proposed and their implementation initiated. This is one of the main tasks of the Occupational Safety Expert. Direct contact with staff members and managers forms the basis for implementing the often “minor things” quickly and without excessive red tape. The Occupational Safety Expert is currently supported by 17 Safety Officers.
Furthermore, close collaboration with management, the Works Council and the company physician is of great importance. The Work Committee (ASA) meetings are held quarterly. This committee discusses current issues and potential solutions, and initiates measures.
The ultimate goal in occupational health and safety is to avoid accidents and damage to health. The Langmatz mantra is: When you come to work healthy in the morning, you should also go home healthy at night.
There are currently 338 companies in Division 2 which have been awarded the RCI employers’ liability insurance association quality seal, 33 of which are located in Bavaria.
