From Founding to the Present Day
Langmatz GmbH was founded in 1963 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, originally under the name LIC Langmatz Industrie Chemie. The company began operations on a 10,000 square meter site along the Loisach River, launching its first production facilities. Initially, the company focused on plastics processing and the production of component parts. As early as 1964, Langmatz introduced its first proprietary product: a cover for terminal blocks.
From the very beginning, Langmatz stood out for its foresight and keen sense of emerging trends. In the years that followed, the company consistently expanded its product portfolio, focusing on innovation and early identification of market developments.
A major milestone was reached in the 1990s with the development and introduction of plastic cable manholes. This innovation positioned Langmatz as a key player in the infrastructure and telecommunications industries.
Through continuous modernization of its production technologies and its talent for selecting highly qualified employees, Langmatz repeatedly set new standards in the industry. The company’s foresight was again demonstrated in 2009 when it entered the fiber-optic technology market—an area still considered a future trend at the time. That same year, Langmatz was honored with the German Material Efficiency Award for its sustainable innovations.
In 2010, the company was renamed Langmatz GmbH and introduced new environmental standards. At the same time, it expanded its activities in the field of electromobility, establishing itself as an innovative provider of traffic technology.
The company's early focus on sustainable infrastructure projects—such as energy supply, fiber optics, and traffic systems—reflects the visionary strategy of Langmatz GmbH. With a strong instinct for market shifts and a consistently forward-looking business approach, Langmatz has managed to maintain long-term success.
